Honey and Ashes

Mixed Media (Honeycomb, Honey, Ashes), ~7"x16", 2000

The picture of a mosquito is created by pouring different sorts of honey –partly mixed with ashes - into the grid of a honeycomb. The "absent" image of a bee, inevitably evoked to memory by honey and honeycombs, can thereby only be imagined.
Thus the search for meaning and appreciation of various forms of life in nature but also within society arises, in particular of preservation of life - so often valued little - which happens by destruction, death and violence (mosquito/ashes) but also the question of overestimating collection in masses and securing life as preservation of life.
